Musicians FX: (Referring to the musicians) How did you guys come together? BH: We only came together once (LAUGHTER) and it was really weird. LH: Yeah and we wouldn't do that again (LAUGHTER). BH: Actually Lindsey and I came to LA from Tennessee in 1988 and that is when we met abe. AP: I liked the material from the first time I heard It. BH: We called ourselves Tribe then we changed it to mission because of all the RAP Bands using tribe in their name, then Mission UK went to Mission so we now we are INNER VOICE. FX: Why that name? BH: It drives us. LH: Yeah, its personal, we all have an inner voice that guides us. AP: And I paid them off (LAUGHTER) I guess we're spiritual in our own way. BH: My Psych calls it Schizophrenia, I call it Spiritual! HA HA! FX: How would you guys categorize your music? LH: Its Rock n' Roll, it varies so much. JJ: Rock n' Roll with a positive vibe, yeah. BH: Positive, but dark like Sabbath. It deals with the things we've all dealt with in our lives. People need to hear our music, they know they are not alone. AP: It has a lot of feeling to me as a drummer, we rock, but we play what the song needs. We have songs with lots of changes, and some 3 chord songs too. FX: So its not the Seattle sound for you? BH: No I don't watch MTV and don't keep up with trends because you'll get wrapped up in the trend. AP: When we write we don't stay in one grove or trend, we go with what the song needs. Gotta hear us. FX: Why should someone come to an Inner Voice show, what makes you different? AP: Our show is high energy, and I can't give away secrets, but i guarentee that no other band is doing what we do. BH: What makes us different is, how many other bands have guys that eat crawdads and rattlesnakes!! (LAUGHTER) AP: We give 110% when and where we play. |
